Rules are for the orderly

two four
then six eight two
as if my muse would sit
for me to lock her up with rules
never

We are writing cinequains over at dversepoets.com, and as usual, I am having trouble with Rules. Also known as Form.

Your sense of humor saved the day! See, you CAN do it and do "form" quite well after all :)

So Funny! Using a cinquain to mock form, very clever. I think maybe your muse will forgive you.

Playfully cute !
Interestingly, I have a weird relation with rules.
I love them when I decide I like them.
The constraints offer a cool challenge where I shoot to get what I want while still playing the game.
Other times, if I feel the rules unjust, I am one of the first to rebel.
So it all depends on the rule.
I always see them as challenges -- just need to decide if they are challenges that need overthrown.

Good job on this one. Your muse is vindicated!

I love constraints, it gives me a little guidance when gathering my thoughts. But you did well in using it anyway.

I hear your sentiments, but you did it. Sometimes that muse has to be told who's boss. Smiles!

I like playing with forms now ~ They are fun to do and knowing the rules, makes me want to break them ~

Well, you made me laugh :-) And to parody the cinquain form in a cinquain - brilliant!

Thanks ya'll. I actually do like to try form quite often. It was a fun exercise. Sometimes in my writing group here in Memphis we do this thing called a group sonnet where you write 3 lines of a sonnet and pass it to the person on the right and so on until you have a sonnet. They can be quite the mix of funny, and serious. But I really like the Cinequains quantrains pantoums and such, too.

Loved the image too.
Looks like you and your Memphis friends took turns creating a spirally critter.
